Ultra Hydrating Face Masks for Dry and Sensitive Skin

Here on the blog we have already discussed some of my favourite skincare products and makeup items for dry and sensitive skin, but now I want to share with you some of my favourite ultra hydrating masks too, for when you want to give your skin some extra TLC.

Sand & Sky is one of my most loved face masks of all time, I have been using it since 2017 and continue to recommend it to this day. However, this mask is more for those struggling with oily skin, spots/acne, redness, uneven skin tone, large pores etc.. When I’m feeling like my face needs extra hydration (which is more frequent now that I have dry skin) a clay mask obviously isn’t my first choice. What I tend to do now is use Sand & Sky on my T-Zone and/or problem areas, and use one of the two masks we are going to take a look at today on the rest of my face.

I’ve decided to share and compare a reasonably priced mask with a higher priced mask…

Marks and Spencer - Formula Hydrating Face Mask

I’m always so excited to see the arrival of brand new products hitting the shelves at M&S! At the beginning of 2019 they launched three new face masks within their Formula range, one of which being this tub of pretty pink hydrating goodness.

Formulated with a blend of hyaluronic acid and rose water, this mask is going to nourish, hydrate, plump and soothe the skin. It is cruelty free, paraben free, alcohol free and suitable for vegetarians. Although suitable for all skin types, this mask is going to be a must have for those with dry or dehydrated skin.

It smells absolutely amazing, such a pleasure to use. I’m becoming quite the fan of some rose scented products - maybe it’s my age as I never used to haha! It has a loose, fluid texture, almost like jelly that hasn’t properly set! For this reason I like to apply it with a small flat brush, it just cuts down on any mess and helps to distribute the product evenly over the face.

I choose to leave this on for 10 mins whilst I’m soaking in the bath, it has a very slight cooling sensation which is much welcome as this helps to calm my skin.

The first time that I used this mask I had a little breakout going on from another product that I was testing out, and whilst wearing this mask it did sting just a touch. Having used it a couple of more times since and with clear skin, I have no discomfort or stinging to report! My skin is left feeling moisturised and bright once rinsing this off, I thoroughly enjoy using it.

You can grab a tub of this at Marks and Spencer for £14, 50ml.

Glamglow - Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment

Another mask formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, only this time it’s been mixed with a blend of Citric Acid, Apples, Orange Blossom, Ginger Root, Honey, Coconut and more! These ingredients are going to work to help instantly hydrate the skin, soothe, and give you an overall glow from within. It’s another great option for those with dehydrated or dry skin. It is paraben, silicone and pthalate free.

As well as the benefits just listed, I found this mask to smell absolutely incredible too - whereas the Formula mask smells quite rosey, this one definitely smells more fruity. It has a thicker and heavier formula than the other too, though I still like to apply it with a brush.

I tend to leave this on for about 15 - 20 mins, again whilst I’m relaxing in the bath. I also find this to have a lovely cooling sensation, another pleasant product to use.

The results from using this mask to the Formula one are very similar, though this Glamglow one does leave the skin feeling a touch more moisturised in comparison.

They say that you can tissue off the bulk of the excess and massage the rest in, but I prefer to just wash off with my face cloth like I normally would. Each to their own though - you could potentially have a two for one item here, a mask and moisturiser…

This Thirstymud mask is supposed to be great for men too, to soothe and restore the skin after shaving.

For 50g of product, this tub will cost you £42. Obviously much pricier than the other mentioned, but here you are paying for the name, along with a fuller ingredients list.

I personally love both, and like I said before, the results I get from them are more or less the same, so no matter what your budget is you can still enjoy a super hydrating face mask that will leave your skin feeling and looking much brighter with it’s thirst quenched!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and found it helpful, if you have any questions or comments, leave them below and I will get back to you.
