Marks and Spencer Beauty Advent Calendar 2018

Today you get a bonus post everyone! Blogtober is still going strong, with only a few days left so make sure you’re all caught up, but I really wanted to share with you the 2018 Beauty Advent Calendar by Marks and Spencer. I’m so excited for this year’s edition as it is jam packed with all of our favourite goodies…

So grab yourself a cuppa, put your feet up, and get settled in as this is going to be a longer one than usual, there’s just so many exciting things to chat about! Make sure you make it to the end as I have some details of an extra special event being held in the Pudsey Store to celebrate the launch of this badboy

They have spoilt us silly with a healthy mix of haircare, skincare, nails and makeup. There is something for everyone in here, and the best part about it is - it will only cost you *£35. There is a fun selection of full sizes, travel sizes (which are very generous travel sizes, but I’ll dip into that later), limited editions and cute little sample sizes that all add up to approx £280. Not bad right? I told you they had spoilt us!

Before I go on and dive into the products within, can we just take a moment for the packaging because I think we can all agree as to how beautiful it is. Cleverly titled ‘The Book of Beauty’, each day brings us a new box to open, sharing a new chapter of the book along the way. Of course every box is numbered, but what I think is a super cute and thoughtful detail is the little quotes printed on each day…

It truly is a book of beauty, what a magical gift to give to another, or even keep as a cheeky gift for yourself.

Without further a do, let’s take a closer look at what you get inside…

Nails

You knew I was going to start with the nail products right? Okay, good!

As a nail/art addict and as a huge supporter of the brand Leighton Denny, I was over the moon to find not one, but two of his products.

Perfect for the Christmas party season isn’t it? Be my Berry is a lush, juicy, metallic red polish that will make for the perfect finishing touch to your party outfits this year. Also included is a dinky little Crystal Nail file which is great for those on the go. Did you know that you can file in both directions with this without tearing or damaging the nail? Everybody needs one of these in their life.

If perhaps red isn’t your colour, how sweet would this make as a little stocking stuffer? You could even pop the polish and file together and give as a gift.

Be my Berry is a full size product worth £12

Make Up

We have a fab selection of make up goodies this time round, including a mix of in-house brand Autograph and mainstream brands Stila, Diego Della Palma, Studio 10, and Eyeko.

Here we have a balance of three travel sizes and three full sizes. There is a travel size Luminosity Luxe Multi Bronzer by Autograph which will give your complexion a hit of natural warmth and glow. Moving on to the super soft and fluffy Autograph Blush Brush, also in travel size, which I feel accompanies the bronzer wonderfully.

The final make up travel size is by Eyeko, the best selling Lash Alert Mascara which contains fibres for added length and volume whilst also including ingredients to nourish, protect and stimulate lashes. The travel size retails for £10.

Now let’s check out the full size make up goodies!

There has been a huge amount of interest in Studio 10 products this year, even prompting visits to stores from brand ambassador Patsy Kensit who sat and chatted with customers about how to use the products and get the absolute most out of them. That being said, within this fabulous mix, out pops the Studio 10 Lip Perfecting Balm Gloss in Bellini. With ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Amino Acids and Vitamin E, this multitasker works to hydrate, plump, smooth, and repair whilst giving the lips a sheer peachy-gold glossy finish. Sold separately this balm gloss is £22.

Two different days gives us a choice of two different colour eyeliners, there is a bold black liner from Diego Dalla Palma, and a chocolate-y brown smudge stick liner from Stila. The Diego Dalla Palma liner is worth £14.50, and the Stila one is worth £16.

So already in just the make up category we have blown the overall £35 price point for the Calendar well and truly out of the park!

Haircare and Fragrance

I’m saving the skincare items for last as there are thirteen of them to get through and I know we can blitz through hair and fragrance in a flash!

Marks and Spencer have given us three different haircare products to play with, and one perfume…

This year the advent calendar gives us a travel size bottle of Shay & Blue’s perfume in Black Tulip. It has been handcrafted here in the UK using real fruits, flowers and spices for a rich, long lasting warm and floral scent.

The Marks and Spencer Beauty Advent Calendar just wouldn’t be the same without Percy & Reed, Living Proof, and of course the one and only Elasticizer by Philip Kingsley.

Percy & Reed have treat us to a special, limited edition Wonder Overnight Recovery treatment in a pretty and festive component. This can be applied to the hair and left in overnight to nourish, rehydrate and repair hair. Even as a travel size, it’s a luxury travel size of 50ml which will last you a fair few nights.

As mentioned before we have the Elasticizer in here, only this time with a seasonal twist. Pomegranate and Cassis add the most gorgeous scent, you will be hooked! Originally designed for Audrey Hepburn, this pre-shampoo treatment will deeply condition the hair adding strength and shine. The tube included contains a generous helping of 40ml.

Finally we have the 5-in-1 Styling Treatment by Living Proof in a 30ml tube. This has won an incredible amount of awards over the past few years. For use on clean, damp hair - blow dry the hair and style as normal for a smooth and polished finish.

Skincare

We have arrived at the biggest chunk of the post, maybe it’s time to pop the kettle back on and get comfy again for the big finale!

I think to kick things off here, I will mention the L’occitane Verbena Shower Gel mini that you may have caught sight of in the last photo. This is a brand that we all know and love, the scents are delicious and if you’re anything like me, this bottle will not last two minutes. I tend to go heavy handed on these kind of products haha!

OK, let’s take a look at the rest of the skincare items…

Pixi by Petra have really taken the UK beauty market by storm recently and opened up to their fab skincare range. The Rose Collection is one of my personal favourites, and I’m so excited to see that nestled in with all of the other treats is this 100ml bottle of Rose Tonic worth £10. Use morning and night after cleansing to soothe, tone and minimise redness.

This Works is fast becoming one of my favourite brands in the beauty department too, this particular product is one not to be overlooked… The in transit Camera Close-Up is another multitasker, it works as a mask, moisturiser and primer all in one swift application.

This next range is one that accompanied my journey through adult acne, helping to keep my skin nice and clear. Balance Me is known for their high percentage use of natural ingredients, and the item included in this calendar is no exception - it is the Wonder Eye Cream (99% natural). Even though it isn’t quite full size sitting at 10ml, it’s worth noting that a full size bottle is 15ml and costs £20.

The Hero Project is one that I’m not overly familiar with, but I know that it is a fairly new addition to the shelves and they have been featured heavily in many glossy magazines and papers alike since being developed. We have been given the full size 30ml Instant Moisture Boost to try out. This oil-free moisturiser includes Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5 that quickly absorbs to give the skin an instant moisture boost to fight back against the winter weather and central heating. This tube retails at £19.

I’m also very happy to see a full size tube of Skyn Iceland’s Berry Lip Fix, 12ml. I was lucky enough to receive a smaller sample of this at the Marks and Spencer beauty Conference and I’ve been using it non-stop. It is worth £12 when purchased individually.

I’ve broken the next lot of skincare goodies down into two different groups, anti-aging and sleep.

Let’s start with sleep!

It just wouldn’t have been right to not find a sample of the fast-selling and customer favourite Formula Absolute Ultimate Sleep Cream would it? Use on an evening on the face and neck to wake up to well rested, hydrated, radiant skin.

Ren is a huge part of the beauty department, a brand that people love and trust. There is a 15ml tube of their V-Cense Revitalising Night Cream within the box, which has been designed to combat the signs of ageing by stimulating elastin and collagen production.

Up next is something that I have been using for such a long time, and I genuinely don’t think I could live without it - the It Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. This claims to help you fall asleep faster naturally and wake up well rested. I find that even though I don’t feel like it sends me to sleep any quicker, it does give me a much better nights rest - I don’t seem to have disrupted sleep anymore, and I certainly wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day.

Right…here is the next and final grouping, anti-ageing.

There is the cutest, dinkiest little tub of L’occitane Immortelle Divine Creme, which holds 8ml of goodness. This is L’occitane’s best selling cream which uses the ‘magical anti-ageing properties of the immortelle flower’. The testimonials on this item really speak volumes, customers see visible reduction of fine lines and wrinkles with an increase in elasticity and firmness.

Another personal fave of mine is the Filorga Time-Filler Eyes. Yes, yes, I know I’m only 30, but prevention is better than cure and I do laugh a lot you know (I’m a happy soul), which gives me plenty of laughter lines around the peepers. Using this compared with other eye creams is the only one that I find to actually make a visible, instant difference. It brightens and firms to perfection. We have been treat to a 4ml sample size, which will last for a good few weeks as you only need to use the smallest amount.

We can’t forget about looking after the rest of the body now can we? Luckily Marks and Spencer have us covered by including Prai’s fast-selling neck cream and Nuxe’s Nuxuriance Ultra body cream.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many tubs of the Prai neck cream I’ve seen fly off the shelves in my short time on the beauty department. The light in texture cream targets double-chins and crepiness in the throat and decollate area by working to restore elasticity and minimise age spots and discolouration. Also - have you seen the special addition 15ml tub it comes in?! So sparkly, so cute, I’d buy the calendar just for this to be honest.

Well it seems as though we have made it to the last (but not least!) item… the Nuxe Nuxuriance Ultra Body Cream. Apply in upward strokes to help nourish, smooth, firm and strengthen the skin. It smells incredible too, which I know isn’t really important, but it makes for a pleasant use.

So guys, what do you think? Impressive isn’t it? For *£35 you have a gift for you, or a loved one, or you could even break down the products into multiple gifts. There’s so many options!

Pudsey Store Event
