Guest Post by YAB Cosmetics
I was so chuffed when Leanne asked me to write a guest post for her blog, but I have to admit the first thought that came into my mind was, **** I'm such a rambler. I've really thought about this post and while I could use this as an opportunity to sell, sell, sell I'd much rather show you the soul and spirit of YAB Cosmetics.
YAB Cosmetics was officially born in March 2016. Prior to this, 2015 had been an absolutely devastating year for me, I suffered loss on an immeasurable scale and my life as I had known it was never to be the same again. One thing it highlighted for me was that I was not the person I wanted to be. I was not focusing on my dreams and goals and I was spending far too much time wondering around aimlessly in life trying to make other people happy. I'd forgotten the self-love part in life. I was empty, I had nothing left to give to myself, let alone others.
In February 2016 whilst in Thailand, I finally had some time to think about what I wanted to do with my life and two ideas that had been lingering in the back of my mind for about 4 years kept cropping up. The first was YAB, You Are Beautiful, being an empath I have always wanted to create a platform that not only encouraged women to self-love but also encouraged them to appreciate the beauty in each other. The second, to create my own nail polish range.
That's when it clicked, I always feel a million times better after I have had my nails done and when I feel good, I give off good vibes, plus the time spent doing my nails is me time, an act of self-love. By combining the two ideas YAB Cosmetics was born.
I instantly knew I wanted to offer my potential customers quality, luxurious and unique nail polishes and for me the only way I could be sure to accomplish this was to hand-blend my polishes in small batches.
I was lucky enough to find a supplier that not only supplies me with top quality ingredients, that are 5 free, vegan friendly and cruelty free, (a bonus, being that I am a lifelong vegetarian), but also sees my vision and has supported me 100 percent along the way, even when I have outlandish requests.
With top quality ingredients, I have been able to produce my first few collections of nail polish. One of the best parts of the production process is seeing a finished polish come alive by giving it a name. I love to give all my polishes positive and playful names to inspire mindfulness of one's self-worth, some of my favourites so far have been, Ego Boost, Worth a Gazillion and Goal Digger.
I have only dipped my toe in the world of nail polish and so far the reception has been overwhelmingly positive. The nail art community are exactly the type of women my brand philosophy adores, supportive, inspiring and uplifting and I am so excited to grow and show them some of my other ideas.
Although I only launched YAB officially in September, YAB cosmetics has changed my life, it has filled me with positivity, confidence and excitement, the exact feelings I hope to extend to my customers.
