Guest Post by The Lady Zen Blogger
Autumn is my favourite time of year for so many reasons. The humidity has long gone, the nights begin to draw in, We start to dust those ankle boots and dig out those cosy scarves. If you're anything like me, the thought of autumn is so exciting. I was invited by the lovely Leanne to share my top 5 favourite things about Autumn and here they are!
Oranges and Reds start to appear, everywhere. Whether I’m out shopping, taking a walk or in by the fire, I really enjoy seeing the many different colours Autumn brings with it. There’s nothing more warming. When I lived in Tokyo, people visited the parks in their droves to see the Acer trees change colour and it was truly stunning.
2. Autumn Scented Candles
Scented candles are great all year around but nothing beats the autumn scents. Spiced Apple and Cinnamon are among my favourite, almost good enough to eat! Burning two different scented candles at the same time gives some really unique and interesting smells. There are so many different brands and scents around, you really are spoilt for choice. I really love the Yankee Candle autumn range. They are strongly scented and 1 candle can scent the whole house. The large jars last forever, I’m still burning mine from last Autumn!
3. Halloween/Pumpkin Picking
The child in me gets so excited seeing Halloween goodies in home stores and pumpkins at the local farm shop. I’m lucky enough to live near the most amazing pumpkin patch and as you can see, it’s everything you could dream of! I find it so satisfying picking my own pumpkins and I’m always down for supporting local farms. They have an array of pumpkins in all colours, shapes and sizes unlike supermarket buying where only the “perfect” ones are often sold. Give me a wonky, bumpy pumpkin any day.
4. Long Walks
Autumn is the best time of year to get those walking boots on. I feel really spoilt for choice living in Suffolk as there are so many trails around, you really couldn’t walk them all. As the days become colder, it’s easy to hibernate and stay indoors. Walking isn’t just exercise, it makes us feel happier and healthier. A long Sunday walk makes me feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the week ahead.
5. Dark lips and metallic nails
The one time of year you can look like a goth and get away with it. I really love a dark red lip paired with an everyday makeup look or worn with a smoky eye for evenings. Matte lipsticks are popular as ever and there are so many autumn shades to choose from. I’m a sucker for NYX and really love their Soft Matte Lip range. Metallics are also big in this year and I adore Barry M’s new Molten Metal nail polish range, Copper shades for days.
I would love to hear some of your favourite things about Autumn. Thank you for reading and A massive thank you to Leanne for the opportunity to guest post, I really enjoying writing this!
