Focusing on Happiness and Motivation 2016

Welcome to the new addition to my blog, Dear Diary. I'm not sure how interesting this corner of the website will be to you, but who knows, it may be a hit!

January 2016 I came across a blog post by Sounds Like Sophie called 'The Jar of Happiness'. I remember reading through it thinking what a wonderful idea it was. At a time where I wasn't happy at work, my migraines were increasingly getting worse and a few other minor things getting me down, it was time to change my mindset and motivate myself, and this Jar of Happiness felt like the perfect way to start.

It was time to start focusing on happiness and motivation! The idea is to fill this jar with all the things throughout the year that make you happy. It can be anything, big or small. It has been so nice sitting back and reading through all my happy moments. This year has been amazing!

At home we have achieved so much, we've poured our heart and soul (and money - wahh) into making our house a home and it's definitely paid off, the hubby and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary, and now we are looking forward to hosting Christmas dinner this year - very exciting haha!

My health, my migraines .. well, after going backwards and forwards to the doctors, and a trip for a daith piercing,  I can (touch wood) say that they attack lesser and lesser. They still pop up now and again, but nowhere near as debilitating or often as previously. Phew!

Remember how I said I wasn't happy at work? I was becoming slightly stalled with my job role, morale was low on the department and a few people I was working with were driving me crazy! It was time for a change .... I applied for a role on a department I'd been longing to work on for such a long time and I got it! I enjoy my job again and the smaller team I work on now are great and work really well together.

My blog has become a huge hobby for me, it's something I really enjoy, and it's a place I feel my voice is heard. Combined with Instagram, I have met some amazing people and have had the pleasure of being able to work with them, and a few of my favourite businesses too!  The community is so supportive and it has been an amazing experience joining it. I've also been nominated for three separate blog awards this year, which is just unbelievable, and I'm truly grateful for that.

Another tool I've used this year was bought for me by my hubby, The Happiness Planner. Lately I've been flittering in and out of it, which is fine, it's not dated! In this journal you can jot in your daily experiences and at the end of the week you have space to reflect, what has been the high points, what do you want to work on, what and who you're thankful for etc. I've found it very useful and it's definitely helped motivate me and help me focus on my blessings rather than my troubles.

So 2017 is nearly upon us, and I will be starting a new jar! Why not join me? Find a jar and throughout next year, fill it with all that makes you happy. It will be so rewarding and put a big smile on your face at the end of the year as you look back on all your years memories. A big thank you to Sophie for sharing this wonderful idea.

Thank you for reading

Love, Leanne Xx
