I am so happy to be a guest on Leanne's Blogmas series. Whenever I am a doing a guest post on PolishedByLeanne I always like to do something but within the theme. This time I super struggled to come up with something nerdy but Christmassy. But then I started looking around at my decorations and I remembered I had a new stamping plate I hadn't used yet, the BBF 87, a Rick and Morty plate and I got started on this mani.
I started with a base of Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream, the perfect Mr Meeseeks colour, Then I stamped Mr Meeseeks on my ring finger first using Barry M Black Forest. I added a Santa hat to him from a sheet of Charlies Nail Art water decals, this is because I have a Meeseeks plush that has a super pained expression, that I add a Santas hat to at this time of year and put him on one of those elf on a shelf swings, this then makes me laugh everytime I see him. But this was all I had in mind, so from this point I was pretty much winging it and I really think it all came together nicely if I do say so myself.
On the bottom half of that nail I added Barry M Diamond Glitter, which, in my opinion is the perfect addition to any mani, it is a stunning holo glitter topper, and I am fully aware that this is starting to sound like a sales pitch, I promise it's not, I just really love sparkly stuff and if you do too, then this is the topper for you.
Anyway, I also added this to my thumb and pinkie, then I stamped over it using Barry M Cotton and Beauty Big Bang XL-032. I stamped loads of the Meeseeks face from the BBF plate using Black Forest on my index nail.
I freehanded the "XMAS IS PAIN" which looks pretty terrible, I hate tiny lettering, but it's nowhere near as terrible as my tiny lettering used to be, so I am definitely improving on that and it makes me so happy to see that improvement. The bow on my middle nail is from the Uberchic Christmas 02 stamping plate, I just stamped the bow in Barry M Cotton, then the bow stamp again over that in Barry M Blood Orange and then I stamped the outline in Barry M Black Forest.
I, of course, topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.
This mani is nerdy, a little weird and Christmassy all at the same time but I think the message of "Xmas is Pain" can be a pretty good thing to take away from it too. Not everyone enjoys the Christmas period, and some people really struggle with it, be it isolation, loneliness, depression, having lost a loved one, trauma, pain, illness or any number of reasons, this can be a super hard time for some people and as it is the season of goodwill, please do check on family, friends and neighbours that you think might be having a hard time, even just dropping by to say hello or offering help can make a massive difference in their mood. Share the sparkle.
