Christmas Party Makeup Ideas
I thought that today I could share with you some must - have makeup pieces for the festive party season ahead of us. These items will see you through Christmas, all the way to New Years.
There is no shortage of inspiration, brands are releasing new collections left, right, and centre, but with so much choice out there it can be hard to know which to choose from. I don’t know about you, but my purse won’t let me buy every new sparkly temptation that pops up on my insta feed, but I feel like what I have to share with you today are great buys which are easy to use, and will get lots of wear time too.
Let’s get started…
Diego Dalla Palma - Make a Party Eyeshadow Palette
I knew that as soon as I saw this beauty I had to have it! I’ve been wearing it constantly at work and receive so many compliments on my eye makeup, which then leads to people buying the very same palette.
You have everything you need in this to create the perfect party eye look, pressed glitter in four different colours, and four complimenting matte shadows.
I have been playing around with all eight pans, and my favourite day look has to be putting the brown shade into the crease blending slightly upwards, and onto the outer corner, then pressing the gold glitter all over the lid. To finish off I take the same brown lightly onto the lower lash line.
If like me you’re not afraid of colour, you will really enjoy the blue and pink shades. I use them in the same way as the more neutral/gold shades, popping the matte colour into the crease, outer corner and lower lash line, then pressing the glitter over the lid with my finger.
One thing that I love, LOVE about the glitters in here, is that you don’t need a glue to make them stay in place. I always do my eye makeup first so I can clean up and cover up any fallout no matter what shadows I’m using, you will get fallout when using the glitters in this palette. It’s inevitable! What I have noticed is that even without using glue, I don’t get any of the glitter falling onto my face throughout the day, they stay in place like a dream.
The mattes are equally as impressive. They blend softly and seamlessly leaving no patchiness, and can be built up for a more intense party look.
You will have so much fun playing around with this product, and the looks you can create are endless. It can be found at Marks and Spencer for £34, a very reasonable price for such high quality (it was made in Italy you know!) palette from a brand you can trust.
Pixi Beauty - Glowy Gossamer Duo Highlighter
I’ve spoken about this highlighter before, and I love it just as much now as I did when I first clapped eyes on it. You can choose from two different duos, Delicate Dew or Subtle Sunrise.
I opted for the Delicate Dew duo as it looked a little cooler toned which I prefer. This highlighter has one of the nicest, smoothest, silkiest formulas which applies to the skin with ease. It gives you an instant glow, on the cheekbone, brow bone, inner eye, tip of nose, all over. Once you start it’s hard to stop haha!
This is another must-have for your party makeup collection, not only for the fabulous glow, but also because no matter what light you are under, it glows. Some highlighters have a tendency to look like a line of colour (often grey) under some lights, which can look very bizarre and ruin the fabulous look you have created. You don’t have this issue with the Glow-y Gossamer Duo.
You can also pick this up from Marks and Spencer, and it costs £20 which is a fab price as you get 2 for 1. I use mine constantly and even though its about 6month old now, I’ve barely made a dent in it, so I can assure you that you will get many, many, many uses out of it.
Leighton Denny - Lip Duals
OK, we’ve covered glittery eyes, highlighted cheekbones, now lets move onto a lush red lip!
Leighton Denny’s Lip Duals have you covered, with a variety of red shades you cannot go wrong. They are double ended, one end has a lip stain, and the other has a lipstick. I’ve talked about these before on the blog, but I truly believe these are a must have for the party season.
You are guaranteed a beautiful red lip that will last for hours on end, no touch up needed. Simply pop on the lip stain first, then apply the lipstick over top.
My favourite reds for this time of year have to be ‘Love that Red’ and ‘High Profile’. They cost £12.50 each, another reasonable price point.
I think that’s just the right amount of Party Makeup Ideas, what do you think? What are your go-to products for there ultimate Christmas/New Year look?
Thank you for reading,
Love, Leanne Xx
